Mama poprosiła mnie, żebym pozwolił siostrze adoptować mojego noworodka, bo „może mu zapewnić lepsze życie”. Tata położył papiery obok mojego szpitalnego łóżka i powiedział: „Już wszystkim powiedzieliśmy”. Pewnego dnia poprosiłem. Kiedy wrócili z fotelikiem samochodowym, czekałem obok kobiety, która ich zdaniem zaginęła trzydzieści lat temu.

“Claire—”

“You lied to me too.”

“I was trying to help both of you.”

“No. You were trying to make everything happen the way you wanted.”

Dad interrupted.

Claire walked over to the car seat.
