“Please,” I whispered urgently, “call that number immediately. Tell Christopher Lindqvist that his daughter was just convicted of a crime she never committed.”
Harold frowned deeply at the name.
Almost everyone in Phoenix knew Christopher Lindqvist.
He owned vast commercial properties, luxury resorts, and private companies, and local newspapers often called him the developer who had built half the modern skyline.
What nobody knew was that he was also my biological father.
My mother had forced me to keep that secret since I turned eighteen.
Even Chad had no idea.
“Why would a man like that listen to a guard?” Harold muttered under his breath.
I met his eyes and replied, “Because when you state my full name, he will not ask a single question.”
They loaded me into the transport van.
During the long drive, I assumed Harold had thrown my note into the trash.

The lead attorney presented an emergency stay of execution based on serious evidentiary tampering, manipulated expert reports, and an immediate suspension of my transfer order.
I wasn’t completely free.
But I wasn’t entering a prison cell that night.
Standing behind the legal team was Christopher Lindqvist himself.
Silver hair.
Dark suit.
A polished cane in his right hand.
He didn’t hug me.
He didn’t smile.
But once we were seated inside the quiet cabin of his SUV, he turned toward me.
“Your husband believes he stole two million dollars from your firm,” Christopher stated calmly.
“That is exactly what he did,” I replied.
Christopher slowly shook his head and corrected me, saying, “No, Genevieve. Those funds belonged to a private investment vehicle of mine routed through your firm, which means Chad has no idea whose money he actually stole.”
A cold shiver ran down my spine.
My father looked through the dark window before delivering another blow.
“And there is something even worse you need to know,” Christopher said softly. “While you were standing trial, someone sold your downtown townhouse using a power of attorney bearing your signature.”
My thoughts immediately went to my son.
